Dr. Amanda Northup is an adult cardiologist. After completing an undergraduate degree in biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina. She went on to complete her internal medicine residency and fellowship in cardiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, as well.
Dr. Northup’s clinical interests include all aspects of cardiovascular disease, but in particular, cardiac imaging, women’s cardiovascular health, and global health. She has traveled to Haiti many times since 2001, volunteering in medical clinics. She also has an interest in medical informatics, and is a certified Epic Physician Builder.
One of Dr. Northup's goals is to make medical technology and electronic health records more efficient, allowing providers to spend more quality time with patients. She is passionate about patient education and prevention, especially regarding women’s cardiovascular health, as heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women in the United States.
