Joshua Joel Visserman, MD

Medical Director, Wound Care Center

Josh Visserman, M.D. specializes in wound care, specifically managing chronic and complex wounds and hyperbaric medicine. He is one of the few fellowship-trained wound care physicians. He provides care for diabetic foot wounds, venous and arterial leg ulcers due to poor blood flow, pressure sores related to paralysis and hospitalizations, post-surgical wounds, traumatic wounds and other atypical wounds. He uses the latest wound care technology including skin substitute grafts, negative pressure wound therapy (WoundVAC), specialized wound care dressings, and in-office wound procedures and biopsies. Originally from Canada, he grew up in Fort Mill, South Carolina and attended Clemson University. He trained at MUSC for medical school and residency and then completed a Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Outside the hospital, Dr. Visserman spends time with his wife and daughters and enjoys Clemson football, spending time on the water, and trying the many restaurants around Charleston.
