Dr. Robert Waters was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is a graduate with highest honors from Clemson University. After receiving his M.D. degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1977, he attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri for his study of otolaryngology under Dr. Joseph Ogura, a pioneer in head and neck cancer surgery. He completed his residency training in 1982, and returned to South Carolina and was in the practice of ENT in Greenville and Easley until 2012. During this time he served many positions within the medical community including county medical society president, hospital medical staff president, and as a member of the board of trustees to the Medical Association of South Carolina.
In 2012, he returned to MUSC, and is currently continuing the practice of general otolaryngology. He has interest in all phases of patient evaluations and referral of surgical cases to the surgeons within the department.
