Julie Westerink, M.D., joined the division of infectious diseases in 2015 as a professor. She earned her medical degree from the Vrije Universiteit at Amsterdam, Netherlands. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in infectious diseases at SUNY, Buffalo and is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases. She joined the faculty at SUNY as assistant professor in 1986.
Dr. Westerink was a professor at the University of Toledo from 1993 to 2015. Her main interests are centered on patient care and research. She is funded by the NIH and studies the immune response to pneumococcal vaccination in healthy and immune compromised individuals.
