Dr. Anand Sharma is a board-certified Radiation Oncologist who has been caring for patients at MUSC since 2001. He is a Wendy & Keith Wellin Distinguished Professor and an Endowed Chair in Radiation Oncology. He also has an academic appointment in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at MUSC.
His primary focus is the treatment of head and neck cancer, thoracic malignancies, and skin cancers. He also treats patients with both malignant and benign brain tumors utilizing Gamma Knife Radiosurgery. In his time here, he has been responsible for the introduction of several new treatment programs including the establishment of a Coronary Artery Brachytherapy program in 2003, the first re-irradiation in a Head and Neck Cancer program in the state in 2005, the first Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy for Lung Cancer program in the state in 2007, and the first Stereotactic Radiosurgery of the Spine program in the state in 2016.
