The Coastal Connections recruitment process for both patient advocates and interns is managed by the Program Coordinator.
Recruitment occurs three times per calendar year for the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Volunteer semesters are divided as follows:
- Spring semester: January through May
- Summer semester: May through August
- Fall semester: August through December
Eligible candidates are current students in an undergraduate or graduate level of study with an interest in health care, health care administration, social work, or public health. Candidates must pass a criminal background check and provide a copy of up-to-date immunizations in order to volunteer with Coastal Connections. In addition, volunteers must complete all MUSC Health orientation requirements.
