Charleston Division

Amber is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, but grew up in Summerville, SC. She has also lived in Pensacola, FL and Tampa, FL where she earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's in athletic training from the University of South Florida. During her time in Florida, she interned at the Andrews’ Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL, working with a variety of patients and professional athletes. While in school, she worked with local high schools, D2 colleges, and D1 college athletes in the Tampa Bay area.

After graduation, Amber joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team, initially as an orthopedic tech in the clinic, then transitioning to an outreach athletics trainer. Amber enjoys working with young athletes and helping them recover from injury so they can get back to doing what they love.

In her free time, she likes to hang out with her dog and go to baseball games.

Aaron Brown is a Physical Therapist and Athletic Trainer at MUSC Health. Aaron grew up in Charleston, SC. He attended Wando High School, and then continued his academic career at Erskine College, attaining a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training. Following undergrad, Aaron moved to Bainbridge, GA where he served as the Head Athletic Trainer for Bainbridge High School. While operating under the umbrella of sports medicine, Aaron decided that he wanted to further his education in Physical Therapy.

He and his wife, Amelia, moved to Charleston, SC in 2018 to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at MUSC. During this time, Aaron joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team, providing athletic training coverage for College of Charleston club sports, local high school sporting events, the Capital One Open, and AAU travel tournaments.

Aaron has helped to provide care for many athletes ranging from middles schoolers to NBA, NFL, MLB, and the likes. Among the high performing athletes that Aaron has worked with, he has also helped provide services for special ops and Special Forces personnel.

In addition to his medical background, Aaron played basketball at Wando High School, and is also a former collegiate basketball player for Erskine College. Aaron is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and an EXOS Performance Specialist.

In his free time, Aaron enjoys playing pickup basketball, boating, backpacking, sports performance training, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and rescue pit bull "Elba."

Marlin Brown is a class of 2002 alumni of Berkeley High School. He is a graduate from Charleston Southern University where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2008 and in Athletic Training degree in 2011. In 2015, he received his Master’s degree in Sports Administration from Liberty University. Previously in 2009 and 2010, he served as a summer intern with the Denver Broncos. After having obtained his Bachelor’s degrees, Marlin was hired as Head Athletic Trainer in September 2011 at Cross High School in Cross, South Carolina. During his tenure there, the football team made school history by winning its first Class A Division Two State Title High School Football Championship in 2012. Marlin has enjoyed being in Athletic Trainer. He loves helping athletes recovering from injury so that they can perform at their highest level. Marlin brings a lot of passion and positive energy when he is working with our coaching staff and athletes.

Ashley Chrestman attended The University of Central of Arkansas to complete her BS in Athletic Training. While pursuing her Master’s Degree in Exercise Science, Ashley worked as a graduate assistance athletic trainer for Arkansas State University. Her primary responsibility was women’s volleyball, but she also served as a clinical instructor and devoted her free time to teaching athletic training students. After completing her Master’s, Ashley was the assistant athletic trainer at University of Arkansas-Little Rock. She worked with the women’s soccer team and the women’s basketball team, who appeared in the D1 NCAA tournament and were crowned Sunbelt Champions. During her time at UALR she provided treatment, injury prevention, and rehabilitation to several athletes that went on to play in the WNBA. Ashley is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association. Ashley has also completed her level I and II Rocktape fascial movement course, Level one and two Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization course, and level one and two myofascial cupping course. Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching the Arkansas Razorbacks, and Crossfit.

Stephanie Davey, a native of Great Bend, Kansas, graduated from The University of Kansas in 2002 with a BSE in Athletic Training. She then went on to complete her MEd in Higher and Post-Secondary Education from Arizona State University. While at Arizona State, Stephanie worked with the Track and Field and Football team. After completing her Masters, Stephanie worked in London, England, at a Sports Performance and Rehabilitation Clinic with elite athletes from soccer, rugby, track, tennis, and golf. Stephanie is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She is also certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist. Health science. She also received manual therapy certification from Kaiser Permanente in 2004. Her primary interests are sports medicine, spine health, aquatic therapy, osteoporosis, and women’s studies.

Rachel joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team in 2021 and is the head Athletic Trainer at the Charleston Charter School for Math and Science. Originally from Georgia, Rachel received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Georgia College & State University in 2018 with a minor in Physical Education. Prior to joining MUSC Health Rachel worked in high schools in South Carolina and Alabama. Rachel is passionate about high school sports medicine and supporting young athletes in their sports.

Aaron Galpert is currently the Head Athletic Trainer for Northwood Academy. Aaron received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Akron, in Ohio, and reminded there at the first Graduate Assistant in Sports Medicine and received his MS in Sports Medicine. After graduation, Aaron worked for 7 years in professional soccer and went on to serve as the athletic trainer for the US Men’s national team, the US Olympic team, the US U-17 and U-14 national teams. Aron also served as the athletic trainer for the US Paralympic soccer team. In addition to his clinical duties in the Sports Rehabilitation Department, at Akron Children’s Hospital, Aaron serves as outreach supervisor for the athletic training program. He also traveled with the Harlem Globetrotters for one season. Recently Aaron received awards from the National Athletic Trainers Association, the University of Akron Alumni Association and most recently has been inducted into the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame Class of 2019. After his retirement from Akron Children’s Hospital, Aaron and his wife Sandy relocated to Summerville where he lives today. He is certified by both the NATA and DHEC as an athletic trainer.

Alecia Good is the Head Athletic Trainer at Pinewood Preparatory School. She received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Psychology from Ohio University. She then received a Master of Education in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia. After graduating, Alecia moved to Colorado where she worked as a Clinical Athletic Trainer at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. While in Boulder, she started a high school knee injury prevention program, managed sports medicine providers for a youth football program, and covered a variety of teams including the US Women's Soccer Team and the Colorado Rapids Reserve soccer team. After six years out west, her family was relocated to Virginia where Alecia worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative and taught classes at Lynchburg College. In 2010, Alecia and her family relocated to Summerville. She held a variety of positions including adjunct professor at Charleston Southern University and personal trainer at the Summerville YMCA before starting at Pinewood Prep in 2014. Alecia is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She is also certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and the American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support Instructor.

Jacqui joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team in December 2022 and is the Head Athletic Trainer for the South Carolina Stingrays, an East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) professional ice hockey team. Jacqui is the team's first female athletic trainer in franchise's 30-year history. A native of Boise Idaho, Gutierrez spent the last three seasons in Sioux City, Iowa as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL). At the conclusion of the 2022 season, Gutierrez became the first female athletic trainer to win the Clark Cup Championship in the USHL.

Prior to joining Sioux City, Gutierrez graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Master of Science in Athletic Training. She earned her undergraduate Bachelor's degree in biology from Pacific Lutheran University.

Robbe Hedstrom joins MUSC Health Sports Medicine from the United States Marine Corps, where he was employed as civilian athletic trainer aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While there he served Marines and Sailors in the 2nd Marine Logistics Group providing clinic-based MSK rehabilitation and first-aid during training exercises and hikes. He also completed the USMC High Intensity Tactical Training (HITT) Level I Course through the Semper Fit program. Robbe has extensive experience in the high school setting serving as the Head Athletic Trainer for Military Magnet Academy in Charleston (2011-2022) and Cardinal Newman Academy (2003-2010) in Columbia, South Carolina. While in this setting he partnered with school athletic directors and administrators to create return-to-learn policies following sports mTBI. He also implemented a helmetless tackling program designed to reduce head & neck injuries in football modeled after the HuTT program created by Erik Schwartz, ATC at the University of New Hampshire. Since 2013 Robbe has been part of the United States Soccer Federation PRN athletic trainer program taking frequent trips to work with a variety of US National Teams for training and competitions. In April/May of 2022 he served as a member of the medical staff for the United States Women’s Paralympic National Team during their World Cup in Spain at which they won the gold medal. Robbe began his education in athletic training at The College of Charleston in 1997 and earned a masters degree in exercise science from the University of South Carolina in 2004. Post-graduate he completed internships at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Robbe is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association, the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association and holds certificates in the Graston Technique and Level I Dry Needling.

In his free time, Robbe enjoys spending time with his wife Lori, their two children Bailey and Ryan, as well as 4-legged family members, Siberian Huskies Ranger and Blaze.

 

Brittney Lang is originally from Michigan but has lived in many places due to her husband being in the military. She recently moved back to the Charleston, SC area after recently living in Okinawa, Japan. She graduated from Central Michigan University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, where she did an internship at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia working with the men's soccer team. Brittney then went on to complete her Master of Science in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science in 2009 from The Citadel, Military College of South Carolina where she also was a graduate assistant with the women's soccer team. She then moved to NYC and worked at Iona College in New Rochelle working with the women's volleyball and softball teams. She would later make her way to Okinawa, Japan where she volunteered at the SMART (Sports Medicine and Rehabilitative Treatment) clinic on Camp Foster, to help treat service members' injuries. She is a Board Certified Athletic Trainer as well as certified through the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association, the South Carolina Athletic Trainer's Association, and the Armed Forces Athletic Trainer's Society. She is also a Certified Kinesio Tape Specialist (CKTP). Brittney's goal is to continue to pursue her interests in working with the military through athletic training and helping those who have given so much.

Christopher "CJ" Macha joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team in 2021. Originally from Wichita Falls, Texas, CJ received a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training from Texas State University. Prior to joining MUSC Health he completed an Athletic Training Residency at Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital which included time in the Physical Therapy clinic at the hospital as well as working as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at local high schools. In his free time he enjoys playing golf and other outdoor activities.

Caitlin joined the MUSC Sports Medicine team in the summer of 2023 as the Athletic Trainer at Goose Creek High School. Originally from Long Island, NY, Caitlin went to Quinnipiac University in Connecticut and received a Bachelor of Science in Athletic training in 2022 with a minor in Psychology. During her time at QU she worked with the men's and women's hockey teams, track and field/xc, and the women's basketball team. Staying in Connecticut after graduating from QU, Caitlin worked as the head Athletic Trainer for Woodland Regional High School. In her free time, Caitlin enjoys going to the beach and traveling.

Vanessa Ramirez, born and raised in Southern California, graduated from UCLA in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. During her time at UCLA, she participated in a sports medicine internship program and worked with the football team and women’s soccer team. Vanessa received her Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2019 from Chapman University in Orange, CA. Vanessa then went on to work towards her PhD in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Vanessa is currently in her fourth year in the PhD program. Her research interests include concussion, lower extremity biomechanics, and lower extremity injury risk. While in Virginia, Vanessa worked clinically at Norfolk Public Schools and Norfolk Christian Schools. She was also an adjunct instructor at Norfolk State University and taught Care and Prevention of Athletic Injuries. Vanessa is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association. Vanessa joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine Team in the spring of 2022.

Laren Siefken comes to MUSC Sports Medicine after working the past twenty years in the Charleston area as an athletic trainer. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. He then moved permanently to Charleston after completing an internship as athletic trainer for the Charleston Battery in 1998. He would then receive a Master of Physical Education from the Citadel. He began his career in 1999 where he served as Head Athletic Trainer at Woodland High School, Charleston SwampFoxes, Timberland High School, Charleston Battery, and Cane Bay High School. Laren is certified by the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. He is also certified by the American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support Instructor.

Kevin Thomas is a native of the Lowcountry and is currently the Head Athletic Trainer at Northwood Academy. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina and gained experience as a Graduate Assistant at the College of Charleston. At the College, Kevin primarily worked with the tennis and sailing teams, while also serving as a clinical preceptor for athletic training students. Concurrently, he completed a master's degree in business from the University of Alabama.

After his time in Charleston, Kevin relocated to the Hilton Head region to apply his healthcare expertise and business training as the sports medicine director for an outpatient physical therapy clinic. The clinic provided services to multiple high schools and special events in the area. In 2023, Kevin and his family returned to the Charleston area, where he joined the MUSC Sports Medicine team. When not at work, Kevin enjoys relaxing with his family, spending time outdoors, and supporting the Gamecocks.

Kevin is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is Certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Dakota joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine Team in the spring for 2022. Dakota graduated from Western Carolina’s athletic trainer program in 2019, after which he spent 3 years working in the secondary school setting in the mountains of North Carolina. Dakota is also certified in mental health first aid is a certified CPR instructor. Dakota’s interest in athletic training started after he experienced a major back injury while playing baseball, which required three months of dedicated treatment rehabilitation. He describes the feeling of returning to sport after injury as “unreal” and wants to help other injured athletes achieve that same sensation and return to the sport they love.

Alyssa joined the MUSC Sports Medicine team in 2022 as the Athletic Trainer for Hanahan High School. Originally from Pennsylvania, Alyssa received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Pittsburgh in 2019. Prior to moving to Charleston, Alyssa spent the last three years working in Raleigh, NC for a variety of high schools as well as the NC Courage. In her free time, Alyssa enjoys walking her three dogs and spending time with her husband.

Ethan Tutton joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team in 2021. Originally from Fayetteville, North Carolina, Ethan received his Bachelors of Science degree in Athletic Training from Liberty University. Prior to joining MUSC Health, Ethan worked in a variety of settings including clinical and outreach. Ethan also participated in conducing research trials pursuing modern treatment interventions for sports related injuries. In his free time, Ethan enjoys camping with his dogs and watching sports.

Marty comes to MUSC Sports Medicine after working the past five years in Orangeburg as a clinical outreach athletic trainer. He provided primary athletic training services to Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School and Orangeburg Preparatory School as well as providing on-call services to schools in Orangeburg and surrounding counties. Also he supervised graduate assistant athletic trainers from the University of South Carolina working in the area. During this time he served as athletic trainer at many special events such as the USMC Mud Run, wrestling tournaments, SCISA championship tournaments, and SCISA all-star games.

Marty is a 1983 graduate of the College of Charleston and he received an MS degree from the Graduate Athletic Training Program at Indiana State University in 1985. He also completed the EMT-B certificate program at Trident Technical College. He has served as Head Athletic Trainer and instructor at Western State College of Colorado, Emory & Henry College, Pfeiffer College, and the College of Charleston.

Bobby Weisenberger, a native of Charleston, SC, graduated from The College of Charleston with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a minor in Psychology. He completed his Master of Science in Sports Psychology at California University of Pennsylvania. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control as an Athletic Trainer in South Carolina. Mr. Weisenberger has worked for the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) since December 2006, and has been the Head Athletic Trainer for the Charleston Battery since 2010. In addition, he has provided medical care to wide variety of athletic events, treating athletes of all ages and skill levels. While at MUSC, Bobby has worked with West Ashley High School Sports Medicine and Athletics, James Island High School, Charleston Charter School for Math and Science, Academic Magnet High School, Wando Lacrosse, Charleston Lacrosse, Charleston Pro Tennis League, Charleston Beach Tennis, Charleston Rugby, South Carolina Scholastic Hockey Association, Charleston Wolverines Junior C Hockey, Charleston Baseball Academy, and Carolina Prospects. He has served as an instructor during medical education events sponsored by MUSC and taught orthopedic joint testing for injury evaluation to physicians and other health care professionals.

The Citadel

Born and raised in Charleston, SC. Received Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2014 from The University of South Carolina where she worked with Football, Woman’s Soccer, Track and Field, Baseball, and two local High Schools. After undergrad, she worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the Woman’s Soccer team at The Citadel Military College of South Caroline and received her Master’s Degree in Health, Exercise and Sports Science. Upon completion of her master’s degree, she was hired full time at The Citadel as The Assistant to the Director of Sports Medicine where she has worked with Baseball, Football and The Corp of Cadets. Jenna is a member of The National Athletic Trainers Association as well as The South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association.

Erika was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina where she played high school and club soccer, and swam competitively. She then went to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2020. Erika received the Ron “Doc” Kanoy award in 2021 from Appalachian State Athletics for outstanding athletic training student. She then went to The Citadel where she was a graduate assistant athletic trainer and received a Master of Science degree in Health Exercise and Sport Science in 2023. Erika is in her third year at The Citadel working primarily with the women’s soccer team. She has experience working with the military population, football, baseball, track & cross country, tennis, rifle, golf, and rugby teams while at The Citadel. Erika is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers Association. Erika joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine Team in the summer of 2023. Erika enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outside, and watching sports.

Katie was born and raised in rural Kentucky where she graduated from Berea college in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Performance. She then continued her education at Charleston Southern University, receiving a Master of Athletic Training degree in 2022. Katie joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team in June 2023 and is the primary Athletic Trainer for the Citadel Men’s Basketball team. Prior to basketball, Gonterman spent one season as the Athletic Trainer for the Citadel Men’s Wrestling team. Katie enjoys spending time with her friends and family, going to church, and all things Kentucky Wildcats.

Evan Harper joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine Team in the Summer for 2023 to begin working with The Citadel Baseball program. Evan, born and raised in Birmingham Alabama, graduated from Auburn University with an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. He then went on to receive his Master of Science in Athletic Training in 2023 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. While at UTC, Evan spent time working with the football program as well as completing his immersive experience with the University of Alabama at Birmingham baseball program during the 2023 season. Evan enjoys spending time with friends and family.

Logan is originally from Charlotte, NC, and grew up in Huntersville, NC. He attended Appalachian State University where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training while completing several clinical rotations including with the Mountaineer football team and Avery County High School athletics. After graduation, Logan joined the Citadel Sports Medicine team as a graduate assistant athletic trainer working primarily with the varsity football team. Upon graduating from The Citadel Graduate College with a Master of Arts in Sport Management, Logan joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team to continue his work with The Citadel Football team. As a lifelong sports fan and athlete, Logan has a passion for athletic training and keeping the athletes he works with healthy and able to perform at the highest level. Logan is the oldest in a large, blended family and enjoys lifting weights, watching sports, and hiking with his dog, Hershey, in his free time.

Michelle Lomonaco has been a member of the The Citadel Sports Medicine staff since 2003 and joined the MUSC Health Sports Medicine in 2023 as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Citadel. A native of Sauquoit, N.Y., Lomonaco earned her bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University in 2003 with a BS in Athletic Training and a Minor is Exercise Science. She earned her Master's Degree in Health, Exercise and Sport Science from The Citadel Graduate College in 2005. Lomonaco is currently serving as the Co-Chair Program Coordinator for the South Carolina Athletic Trainer’s Association Symposium. In addition, she is also serving as a Climate Fellow at The Citadel’s Center for Climate Change.

Shelby, originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, graduated from Appalachian State University in 2020 with her bachelor’s degree in athletic training. Shelby began her professional career at the Citadel in the summer of 2020 by working in the Infirmary with the Cadets and Intramural sports before transitioning to her current role with the Women's Volleyball team in 2021. She received her master's degree during this time in Health Exercise and Sports Science from the Citadel Graduate College, graduating in 2022. Shelby also served as the Lead Athletic Trainer for Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps during their 2022 summer tour. Ms. Lowe is currently certified by both the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. She is also a member of the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Sean O'Donnell is originally from New Jersey and received his bachelors in athletic training from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington. After receiving his certification, Sean began working for the Citadel in the summer of 2021. He was the athletic trainer for the Core of Cadets from 2021 to 2023 while completing his Masters' degree from The Citadel. Sean received his master's in health, Exercise and Sport Science in 2023 and is now the athletic trainer for Citadel's wrestling team. He also enjoys traveling and playing pickleball.

Caleb is originally from Lexington, North Carolina and moved to Charleston in May of 2020. He completed his undergraduate studies in Athletic Training at Appalachian State University. While a student at Appalachian State, he worked with various different teams including two seasons with their football program in which he was a part of two conference championships and bowl victories. He continued his education at The Citadel where he received his Master of Science in Health, Exercise, and Sport Science. While in school at The Citadel, he began working as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the primary responsibility of football. Upon graduation, he was promoted to Assistant Athletic Trainer (Football) and has served in this position since Summer 2022.

Florence Division

Board Certified Athletic Trainer Wrakyia Platt-Gregg assists student-athletes with athletic injury prevention, assessment, management and rehabilitation. She has a broad knowledge in several different levels of sports and clinical athletic training experience, providing optimal healthcare to patients. Athlete safety is her top priority, ensuring the safest and most effective rehabilitation experience. Platt-Gregg is a board certified athletic trainer at MUSC Health Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in Florence. She received her Master of Science in Athletic Training from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her Bachelor of Science in Sport Science - Fitness Management from North Carolina A&T State University.

Lancaster Division

Matt joined the MUSC Sports Medicine team in 2022 as the outreach Athletic Trainer at Andrew Jackson High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of South Carolina. Upon graduation, he began his Athletic Training career in professional baseball where he worked in the minor leagues of the Chicago White Sox Organization for two seasons. However, most of his athletic training career has been spent at the secondary school level, as this is his second stent with Andrew Jackson High. Matt served as the Athletic Trainer at USC-Lancaster for 9 years between his stents at the high school level.

He enjoys helping athletes return to their respective sports and seeing them succeed in the sport they love. Matt also is a teacher, having taught science at the middle school level for 20 years and now teaches Sports Medicine.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time and traveling with family, playing tennis, and gardening.

Jessica is a certified athletic trainer with the MUSC Health sports medicine outreach program. She is currently serving Indian Land High School in Lancaster County and has been there since 2022. She has been a certified athletic trainer since 2018.

Jessica received her Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Winthrop University. While studying at Winthrop she participated in in-depth clinical rotations with Winthrop baseball and Winthrop women's lacrosse. After graduation, she worked primarily in the secondary school setting. She also served as a clinical preceptor for Winthrop University's athletic training program. She is a member of the South Carolina Athletic Trainer's Association.

Jessica became interested in sports medicine after suffering a career-ending athletic injury in high school. That injury has helped make her an expert in low back rehabilitation.

In her free time, she enjoys being outside with her fiancée and dogs and watching sports on TV.

Originally from Minnesota, Kaitlin joined the MUSC team in February 2023 as the Head Athletic Trainer for the University of South Carolina - Lancaster. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Clinical Movement Science and obtained her Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Idaho in 2015. In her 7 years as a Certified Athletic Trainer, she has worked in a variety of settings including military, industrial, NCJAA and NCAA Division I athletics.

Kaitlin enjoys giving her patients the physical ability to return to the life they love, whether their goal is playing a sport, serving their country, holding their child, or providing for their families. Her clinical interests include injury prevention through biomechanical assessment and early symptom intervention and manual therapy techniques.

Outside of work, Kaitlin is an avid traveler and loves spending quality time with her family and friends, hiking with her dog, and enjoying the warm South Carolina weather out on the water.

Daniel Lundy has been a certified athletic trainer since 2003. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Athletic Training from Capital University. He received his Master of Science degree in Exercise Science from Arkansas State University. Daniel worked with the women’s soccer team and baseball team while at ASU.

After receiving his Master’s degree from ASU, Daniel was an intern with the Atlanta Falcons of the NFL and Georgia Force of the AFL. He was able to work closely with professional athletes guiding their therapeutic exercise programs and daily treatments.

Daniel then was the associate head athletic trainer at Winthrop University where he worked with the men’s/women’s soccer teams and the women’s basketball team. During his time at Winthrop, Daniel worked with athletes that went on to play professionally in their respective sports.

Daniel is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. Daniel is also a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Selective Functional Movement Assessment Level 1 certified, and is certified in dry needling through Integrative Dry Needling.

Daniel enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys spending time with extended family and friends.

Aaron McCarley is the head Athletic Trainer for Chester Senior High School in Chester, SC and has been working as an Athletic Trainer for 6 years. Two of those years were spent in High School settings, and four were spent in a clinical Physical Therapy setting.

Aaron chose to pursue Athletic Training as a profession because of his love for Athletics, Strength and Conditioning, and Physical Therapy. Aaron has taken a personal interest in strength and conditioning training for athletes trying to build the athlete’s physical abilities to help prevent injuries, as well as dry needling for the treatment of injuries.

Aaron attended Catawba College where he received his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. Aaron also received his certification for dry needling from the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy in 2021.

In his own time, Aaron enjoys going to the gym to train with his younger brother, who is training to compete in powerlifting as well as bodybuilding.

Kristina Medinger works for MUSC Health as an outreach Athletic Trainer for Buford High School, teaching Sports Medicine classes. Kristina obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Methodist University. Upon graduation, she worked at Florida Tech working with various athletic teams. She then worked at a middle school as she completed her Master's in Exercises Science and Health Promotion. Kristina has a Doctorate in Athletic Training from Temple University and has been practicing as an Athletic Trainer for over a decade.

Growing up, Kristina was very active in sports and tended to spend much time in the Athletic Training room. Her nickname was Crash because she was always playing so hard that there was rarely a game she was not bruised, bleeding, or battered up in some capacity. While getting treatment and doing her rehab exercises sparked an interest, and her future was built from there. She loves being able to treat athletes from start to finish and build a rapport with them to see how much they progress throughout their athletic careers. Regarding Kristina's interest and research pursuits, her focus typically revolves around Sport Specialization, ACL Reconstruction, Mental Health in Athletics, Concussion Rehabilitation, and Concussion RTL in schools.

She is married and has 3 children and 2 dogs. In her spare time, She tries to spend quality time with her family as much as possible. She loves planning events for people and is also a wedding coordinator and travel agent.

Gianni Paglia joined the Lancaster division of the MUSC Health sports medicine team in 2022. Gianni graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Winthrop University. Gianni is working towards his Masters of Science in Sports Management from the University of Florida. Gianni is currently the head athletic trainer at Lewisville High School in Richburg, South Carolina.

Gianni chose the career path of athletic training because he loves the fact that as an athletic trainer, he can reach populations that do not normally have the luxury of receiving state-of-the-art health care services. Within the profession, he loves to utilize evidence-based practice and applies it to his therapeutic intervention protocols.

Outside of work, Gianni loves going fishing and spending time with his wife and their dog, Reba.

Sarah is a certified athletic trainer with the MUSC Health sports medicine outreach program. She is currently serving Lancaster High School in Lancaster County and has been there since 2017. She has been a certified athletic trainer since 2015.

Sarah received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Kean University in New Jersey. While studying at Kean, she participated in in-depth clinical rotations with Kean’s women's volleyball team and 4 of the local high schools around Kean University. After graduation, she worked as the assistant athletic trainer for North Myrtle Beach High School. She is a member of the South Carolina Athletic Trainer's Association.

Sarah became interested in sports medicine after joining the Athletic Training club in high school. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and being with friends and family.

Kendric joined the Lancaster division of the MUSC Health Sports Medicine team in 2021, as an outreach Athletic Trainer. Kendric is a South Carolina native, who graduated from Lewisville High School and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training from Winthrop University in 2019. Kendric is a 12-year (and counting) survivor of pediatric cancer; he is excited and honored to now work alongside his lifetime family doctor, Samuel Stone, who oversaw his battle with cancer.

Kendric has a passion for all sports, especially baseball, but has an even greater passion for assisting others to be the absolute best that they can be, in whatever they aspire to do in life. Kendric uses his personal background and past experiences to help guide and mentor the athletes that he works with.

Outside of work, Kendric enjoys exercising and walking for mental clarity and focus. Kendric also enjoys other leisure activities such as playing basketball and video games. Joining the MUSC Health Care Team has allowed Kendric to fulfill one of his personal passions, by assisting as many athletes to be the absolute best version of themselves.

Midlands Division

Michelle is the outreach Athletic Trainer for MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center at North Central High School. She is a 2016 graduate of the University of South Carolina where she completed her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training. Upon graduating she began an internship at Morgan State University where she provided sports medicine services to division 1 athletes until 2017. She then went on to continue her education at The Citadel Military College of South Caroline where she obtained her Master of Science in Health, Exercise and Sport Science.

Immediately upon graduating from The Citadel in August of 2019, Michelle began her first full time position with Kershaw Health (now MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center) as the Outreach Athletic Trainer for North Central High School. A native to the Midlands and 2012 graduate of Lower Richland High School, Michelle is proud to remain near home and serve a community she is familiar with.

In her free time, Michelle loves to binge watch medical dramas and spend quality time with her family and friends.

Marci is an Outreach Athletic Trainer for MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center. Her main role is providing Athletic Training Services to Camden High School. Marci earned her B.S. in Athletic Training at The Florida State University while serving as an Athletic Training Student with various Seminoles’ Athletic Teams and Tallahassee Community College Athletics. Marci made the move to South Carolina to continue her education at The Citadel Military College of South Carolina in Charleston. While serving as a Resident Athletic Trainer on the Bulldog’s Sports Medicine Staff, Marci earned her a M.S. in Health, Exercise and Sport Science.

Marci was grateful for the opportunity to stay and serve in South Carolina, she continued her career as an Outreach Athletic Trainer for the Stratford High School Knights and then the Chapin High School Eagles. Marci has been a Certified Athletic Trainer since 2011, she also holds a Professional Teaching Certificate and has training in Functional Movement Systems, Cupping, Blood Flow Restriction, and Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization.

In her free time, Marci enjoys volunteering with FoodShare and with United Way of Kershaw County. Marci resides in Camden with her fiancé and two fur babies. Her favorite activities include hiking the Palmetto Trail, river floats down the Saluda, and camping in the Upstate.

Orangeburg Division

Craig Harward has been a certified athletic trainer since 1983. He completed the EMT-B certificate program at Midlands Technical College in 1976. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Newberry College in 1980. He received his Master of Arts degree from the University of South Carolina in 1982.

After receiving his Master’s degree from USC, Craig has worked at Brookland-Cayce high school, Newberry College, Wofford College, SC State University and the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun county (now MUSC Health Orangeburg Medical Center). He has also been an athletic trainer for USA Swimming and team athletic trainer for team SC of USA wrestling.

Prior to joining MUSC Health, Craig was the director of sports medicine and athletic health care administrator at South Carolina State University where he over saw the entire sports medicine program and worked primarily with the football team. Over his extensive career, Craig had many athletes that have gone on to play professionally in their respective sports.

Craig is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers’ Association, and the South Carolina Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Craig enjoys spending his free time with his wife and traveling to see his four children and grandson.

Brittany is originally from Wheeling, WV, where she graduated from Wheeling Central Catholic High School before going to Wheeling “Jesuit” University for her bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. After undergrad, she received her Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Brittany first began her career working in the secondary school setting at Bellaire High School in Ohio. She then moved into the pro ball setting when she began working with the Washington Wild Things Indy pro baseball team in Pennsylvania. From there, she moved to Orangeburg, SC, where she spent 3 years providing primary athletic training services to Edisto High School. Brittany then moved back to WV to work at the University of Charleston in a split position as an Exercise Science Instructor and AT. In the summer of 2023, Brittany joined the Sports Medicine Team as the Coordinator for the Orangeburg Division.
