Photo of Ellen Debenham, RN, CCRC

Ellen Debenham, RN, CCRC, is the Manager of the Tele Stoke and Tele Neurology programs at the Medical University of South Carolina. She was instrumental in the development of the Tele Stroke program at MUSC in 2008, and has been working to expand access to stroke care in the state since that time. She recently implemented the Tele Neurology program at MUSC to offer acute and scheduled neurology consults.

Ms. Debenham received her nursing degree from the University of Vermont and practiced as a clinical nurse in pediatrics before transitioning to research and then telemedicine. She represents nurses across the country as a member of the American Heart and Stroke Association Committees for tele stroke as a member of the stroke council. She speaks regularly at educational events in South Carolina and was recently a participant in a panel presentation titled “Building and Sustaining a Successful Tele Stroke Network” at the International Stroke Association Conference. In 2014 she received the Award for Excellence for her Contributions to Nursing by the South Carolina League for Nursing.

Pat Aysse, MSN, RN, is a Clinical Coordinator at the Center for Telehealth. She has been at MUSC for over 30 years. Pat started out as a staff nurse in the Neurology ICU many years ago, and has since held multiple management positions in the organization. Most of her career was spent in the surgical world.

Ms. Aysse moved into the Stroke Program Manager position on the inpatient side in October of 2014 and helped the program achieve the first South Carolina Comprehensive Stroke Certification from Joint Commission in December of 2015.

She and her husband have two daughters and now live in a house divided, with a Clemson graduate and a Carolina student. Pat looks forward to helping the MUSC partners in telehealth with providing excellent care to the patients of South Carolina.

Nancy Turner, BSN, RN, CPAN, is a Neuroscience Telehealth Coordinator for the Telestroke and Teleneurology programs at the Medical University of South Carolina. Nancy joined the team in June 2015, providing education and application for the Telestroke and Teleneurology partner sites.

Ms. Turner received her nursing diploma from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing and her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. Her clinical experience spans the Emergency Room, Neuro/Trauma ICU, and peri-operative nursing. Obtaining advanced certification in the peri-operative area. Much of her in-patient nursing career has been focused on teaching and the orientation of staff members. Since joining the Telehealth teamEllen, Ms. Turner has been involved with the development and implementation of education plans for the growing Neuroscience Telehealth programs.
