Try these snack pairings to add more protein and calcium into your diet. Top pairings on whole grain bread or crackers, or add to a grain salad such as brown rice, cracked wheat or faro to make it a meal!

Fruit and Vegetable Pairings

  • Cheddar: apples, grapes, pears
  • Colby or Monterey Jack: apples, cherries
  • Mozzarella: tomatoes, strawberries
  • Brie: pears, apples, apricot
  • Parmesan: tomatoes
  • Goat: berries, beets, figs, sun-dried tomatoes
  • Gouda: dried fruit
  • Gorgonzola or blue cheese: pears, carrots, peppers, celery
  • Ricotta: berries
  • Feta: watermelon, cucumber, olives, tomatoes

Enhance your yogurt or cottage cheese with these sweet and savory additions for a little added flavor.

Sweet Additions

  • Serve with fruit (pear, berries, fig, pineapple, peaches)
  • Drizzle with honey, agave or maple syrup, or sprinkle with cinnamon
  • Top with cereal, granola, cocoa, coconut, cinnamon toast or nuts

Savory Additions

  • Mix with nut butters (peanut, cashew, almond, hazelnut)
  • Serve with vegetables (cucumber, roasted peppers, roasted beets, scallions, tomatoes, avocado)
  • Sprinkle with fresh herbs (chives, dill, basil, or spices- curry, za’atar, black pepper, cumin, red pepper flakes)
