In an effort to help health care organizations meet many of the emerging requirements of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and to provide patients with higher quality of care and patient experiences, MUSC Health will be offering Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Training Program, a 40-hour program that was developed by the Cross Cultural Health Care Program.
Successful completion of this course prepares bilingual individuals to serve as qualified medical interpreters in any health care setting. Interpreters who use American Sign Language (ASL) are also encouraged to attend.
In addition to Bridging the Gap, MUSC Health offers a number of interpreter training opportunities. These programs are designed to accommodate the needs of all levels of multilingual learners. We offer educational options ranging from fundamentals of interpreting to specialized topics, such as interpreting for victim services and palliative care.
