Enrolling & Changing Your Benefits

Any benefits changes require completion of a Notice of Election (NOE) form (PDF). Print this form, and bring it to the Medical Center Human Resources Office, Room 109 Clinical Science Building to process the changes.

New Hires: Enrolling & Changing Benefits

As a new hire, not only can you select your benefits but you can also change your mind within 31 days of your date of hire. You can:

  • Change health insurance carrier
  • Add/drop health or dental coverage for yourself or your dependents
  • Add/drop optional and dependent life, supplemental long term disability, or
  • Long term care insurance

Benefits Changes You Can Make Year-Round

Some benefits changes may be made any time during the year. You can:

  • Change your HMO physician
  • Drop dependent life insurance
  • Drop optional life insurance
  • Drop supplemental long term disability
  • Drop long term care insurance
  • Change beneficiaries

With completion of the Personal Health Application:

  • Add/Increase dependent life insurance
  • Add/Increase optional life insurance

Contact Aetna Insurance company at 800-537-8521 to add/increase long term care insurance

Open Enrollment

Open enrollment is during a specified four-week period in October during odd years (e.g., 2015, 2017). During this time you can make the following changes, which become effective January 1 of the following year:

  • Change health insurance carriers
  • Add/drop health or dental coverage for yourself or your dependents
  • Set up MoneyPlu$ Dependent Care and/or Medical Spending Accounts for the following year

Annual Enrollment

Annual enrollment is during a specified four-week period in October during even years (e.g., 2014, 2016). During this time you can make the following changes, which become effective January 1 of the following year:

  • Change health insurance carriers
  • Set up MoneyPlu$ Dependent Care and/or Medical Spending Accounts for the following year

Life-Qualifying Event

You may be able to add or delete dependents to health and/or dental insurance within 31 days from date you experience any of the following life-qualifying events:

  • Marriage
  • Separation/Divorce
  • Birth or Adoption
  • Death
  • Employment change of spouse
  • Dependency change for children
