You may be eligible for the following benefits as an employee of the MUSC Medical Center:
Money Plus: Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts
MoneyPlu$ is the name of the Medical Center's Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) program. FSAs and HSAs are tax-favored accounts, which are IRS-approved tax-free benefits. They save you money on eligible medical and dependent care costs by enabling you to pay these expenses with income deducted from your salary before it is taxed.
If you are paying for dependent care expenses, or have medical expenses that are not reimbursed under your health insurance, you are paying for those expenses with dollars that have already been taxed. By enrolling in MoneyPlu$, you can pay those same expenses with dollars before federal, state and social security taxes are deducted from your salary. You decide how much to have taken out of your paycheck and reserved for reimbursable expenses. Then, each pay period, a regular portion of this amount is deducted from your paycheck. MoneyPlu$ accounts are administered by the Fringe Benefits Management Company (FBMC).
Direct Deposit is a safe and reliable method for receiving paychecks: it allows the electronic transfer of funds directly to your financial institution account which includes checking, share draft, savings, and/or investment. Direct Deposit is a safe, convenient, and smart way to organize personal finances while saving you time and money.
Effective April 4, 2004, the Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) designated direct deposit as its method of payment of wages. Beginning with that date, new employees are required to complete direct deposit paperwork. Funds may be deposited into up to three accounts. Employees, who for whatever reason, do not quality or elect not to enroll in a traditional financial account, will have the option of opening an "access account" and will have direct access to their funds.

Certification Incentive Program
The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) currently offers a program rewarding care team members who achieve advanced or specialty certifications with an incentive of $750.00. Care team members must be in a 0.6 FTE (or greater) regular/permanent or temp position, have completed one year or more successful employment, and have no disciplinary actions (written or greater) in the past year to qualify. Certifications must be on the current list of approved certifications prior to testing.
MUHA will also award a recertification incentive equal to the registration fee or processing fee for recertification, not to exceed $500.00. Care team members must meet the same eligibility requirements to be eligible for recertification incentive.
The Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) currently offers a generous tuition assistance program to encourage care team members to improve work-related knowledge and skills through completion of course work and degrees offered by accredited programs at higher education institutions. Tuition assistance will be available to eligible employees for successful completion of courses that the Authority considers, in its sole discretion, to meet business-related needs.
MUHA currently operates its tuition assistance program on a fiscal year basis (July 1 through June 30). Eligible care team members must in a 0.6 FTE (or greater) regular/permanent or temp position, have completed one year or more successful employment, and have no disciplinary actions (written or greater) in the past year to qualify. Interested care team members must submit an education plan to Human Resources beginning in March, and no later than the announced deadline, to be included in the upcoming fiscal year. Each approved care team member may request a maximum of $5,250 with submission of the required documentation after course completion. Care team members who receive assistance will be required to fulfill a service commitment of one month for each $400 that is reimbursed.
