Why MUSC

During my search for the perfect PGY-2 program, I constantly found myself comparing every program to MUSC. The pediatric PGY-2 program at MUSC fosters autonomy, developing practice based on evidence-based medicine, and provides ample opportunity to enhance precepting abilities. Being an integral part of the healthcare team while building research, leadership, and practical skills makes this experience rewarding.

I enjoy biking, watching sports (go Gators!), hiking, visiting new places, and listening to music. A fun fact about myself is that I'm engaged to my pharmacy school sweetheart!

Why MUSC

MUSC has a reputation of developing outstanding pediatric pharmacists and I wanted the opportunity to complete my training at an institution such as this one. Furthermore, there is a wide variety of pediatric populations cared for by the medical teams at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital. This provides an opportunity to learn how to manage a multitude of disease states. In addition to your responsibilities to your patient care team, the pharmacy on-call service provides you with experience in nutritional support, pharmacokinetics, and drug information. I'm confident that the training provided at MUSC will adequately prepare those looking to further their career in all areas of pediatric pharmacy.

Outside of Pharmacy

I enjoy going to the beach, eating good food with good friends, riding bikes, happy hour, and Bravo television. A fun fact about myself is that I am the 7th pharmacist in my family and my grandfather and I graduated pharmacy school 70 years apart!

Why MUSC

I chose MUSC as a PGY1 for the wide variety of PGY2 programs, the large residency class size, the reputation MUSC carries and mostly the good vibe I got from everyone I spoke to here. I stayed at MUSC for a second year for all of the above PLUS the rotations offered in pediatric pharmacy at our BRAND NEW hospital, the clinic opportunities and flexibility to customize my schedule to my interests. I have enjoyed the proximity to the college and interactions with students in student organizations and while on rotation. I feel supported from my advisors, RPD and co-residents - love y'all! Also, let’s be real, living in a foodie city and 10 minutes from the beach is not that bad.
