The topic is The Evolution of Bariatric Surgery from Quackery to Respectability in Contemporary Internal Medicine.
Objectives
1. Discuss the wide range of organ systems affected by obesity to which bariatric surgery is relevant.
2. Explain the different mechanisms by which bariatric surgery reverses many key processes.
3. Identify how bariatric surgery has provided a model for interdisciplinary cooperation and understanding in provision of care.
