Biography

Dr. Hatem Abdallah is a board-eligible general surgeon and serves as the MUSC Florence Division's Medical Director for Robotic Surgery. His clinical interests include  complex abdominal wall reconstruction, robotic inguinal and ventral hernia surgery. Other clinical interests include robotic gallbladder surgery, small intestinal tumors, gastric surgery including feeding access surgery, splenic surgery as well as minimally invasive/robotic surgery for diverticular disease, and colon cancer, breast cancer, melanoma and sarcoma surgery, lipoma, and skin lesions. Dr. Abdallah is also interested in treating thyroid cancer as well as parathyroid disease. He also enjoys all aspects of emergency general surgery as well as trauma surgery.

Dr. Abdallah was born and raised in Ontario, Canada and obtained his bachelor’s degree in General Science at the University of Windsor. He subsequently completed medical school at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, followed by his internship and general surgical residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He went on to complete his fellowship in the Mastery of General Surgery program at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where he focused on minimally invasive/robotic surgery, thyroid/parathyroid surgery as well as all aspects of emergency general surgery.
