Biography
Samuel “Skip” Schumann, III, M.D., MSCR is an assistant professor of medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his undergraduate education at Wofford College in 2007 and received his medical degree from MUSC’s College of Medicine in 2011. He completed internal medicine residency training at MUSC in 2014, serving as a chief resident the following year. He then joined the Division of General Internal Medicine faculty, completing an academic generalist fellowship with a masters in clinical research. He is the medical director for quality assurance and performance improvement in primary care for MUSC's Charleston campus.
Dr. Schumann's clinical interests include the treatment of patients with hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and the coordination of care between primary care and subspeciality care for patients with (but not limited to) heart failure, cancer, and substance use disorders.
