The mission of the Family Medicine Residency Program at MUSC Health Florence is to prepare family medicine physicians to provide high quality, comprehensive, patient-centered and compassionate care, and advance health outcomes in the communities they serve. The program has a special focus on addressing the needs of rural and underserved communities.

Residency, under the direction of Kourtney Osorio, M.D., will prepare physicians for any clinical environment through well-rounded training, diverse experiences, and direct practice. With limited primary care resources in the community, there are many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in real-world settings. The program will also encourage residents to direct their own education with faculty support and dedicated time to focus on electives.
