State Office of Victim Assistance

For those to whom it applies, South Carolina has a Crime Victims Compensation program that will pay for mental health counseling for eligible crime victims. To be eligible:

  • The crime must have occurred within 170 days from the present date.
  • The crime must have been reported to law enforcement.
  • The victims has to cooperate with the criminal justice system (that is, they must be willing to prosecute the case).

If you feel you are eligible to receive this funding, our intake coordinator can help you apply, or you can apply online. The Crime Victims Compensation Fund is sponsored by the South Carolina State Office of Victim Assistance (SOVA).
