MUSC Health is home to the only comprehensive Brachial Plexus & Peripheral Nerve Injury Center in the state of South Carolina.
Experts in their field, Dr. Dane Daley and Dr. Matthew Sherrier lead a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and management of these complex injuries. The Center streamlines care through a comprehensive, one-stop model that includes team-based evaluations, electrodiagnostic testing, advanced imaging, pain management options, and advanced surgical techniques. When surgery is indicated, procedures include brachial plexus reconstruction, nerve transfers, nerve grafting, muscle and tendon transfers, and surgical management of chronic injuries or obstetric brachial plexus birth palsy (OBBP).
Patients can receive care at The Center on the 2nd Thursday of each month.
Our interdisciplinary team collaborates to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for each patient. Specialized hand and upper extremity therapists play a critical role throughout rehabilitation, supported by mental health professionals, prosthetists, plastic surgeons, and physical therapists to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care.
