Our home hospital is where all inpatient training takes place. Founded in 1938 by the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine, and formerly Providence Health, Columbia Medical Center Downtown is a 332-bed hospital known statewide for outstanding clinical quality and compassionate care. Residents care for patients on two floor medicine teams and one ICU team, with night float and no overnight call. With no fellows at present, residents work directly alongside their attendings on general and subspecialty rotations.

MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast

The sister campus of Columbia Medical Center Downtown is a 75-bed hospital and medical campus in northeast Columbia, with easy access to I-77 and I-20. Residents come here for a range of electives. Each elective places at most two residents, and most often just one, directly with an attending.

MUSC Health Primary Care Laurel St. Medical Pavilion

This is home to the resident continuity clinic, where residents see patients one half-day each week across all three years. Two to three residents at most work with the clinic attending each half-day. Program Director Dr. Paul Watanakunakorn is part of the clinic's care team, and the building is also home to MUSC Health's Claude W. Smith M.D. School of Cardiovascular Technology.

Columbia Gastroenterology Associates, P.A.

Residents complete their gastroenterology rotation with this practice of board-certified gastroenterologists, now celebrating 40 years. The practice runs its own onsite endoscopy center.

MUSC Health Elgin

Residents train here in endocrinology, in an outpatient setting, working directly with the attending.

South Carolina Oncology Associates

Residents complete the outpatient part of their hematology and oncology rotation at this private cancer center, which treats more than 50,000 patients a year for all forms of cancer and has served the Columbia community for more than 40 years. Medical, radiation and gynecologic oncology are offered in one location, alongside infusion, imaging and genetic counseling.
