We would like to thank you for your interest in the MUSC Florence Internal Medicine Residency Program. Our program is rigorous yet supportive, and flexible to meet each resident where they are while helping them grow into the physician they aspire to be. We value curiosity, teamwork, and compassion. We believe that learning medicine goes hand in hand with growing as a person.
I can personally attest to the exceptional experience and support that one gets here. We are very fortunate to work with remarkable residents and faculty, who are bright, compassionate, and deeply committed to patient care. Their diverse backgrounds and perspectives enhance our learning environment while strengthening the spirit of collaboration defining us.

Program Mission Statement
The mission of MUSC Health Florence Medical Center Internal Medicine Residency Program (FMC IMRP) is to educate and prepare internists in the entire breadth and depth of internal medicine practice. Using our regional resources and those of the entire Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) system, we will train physicians with the clinical, personal, professional, and interdisciplinary competencies to provide exceptional patient care.
Our graduates will improve access, health outcomes and the quality of care in the communities they serve, with special focus on rural and medically underserved areas.
Program Aims
The Department of Internal Medicine at MUSC Florence Medical Center is committed to training physicians who are clinically strong, professionally grounded, and well-prepared to deliver exceptional, compassionate care. They improve access to health care, strengthen patient outcomes, and elevate the quality of care in the communities they serve, especially in rural and medically underserved areas.
Residents participate in a wide range of clinical experiences in the broad areas of ward services, the intensive care unit, specialty clinics, outpatient internal medicine, and the emergency department. Rotations occur at the MUSC Health Florence Medical Center and the MUSC Health Jean and Hugh K. Leatherman Behavioral Care Pavilion. These experiences contribute both in caring for patients in the hospital and then following up and providing continued comprehensive care for patients post-discharge.
Using our regional resources and those of the entire Medical University of South Carolina system, we will train physicians with the clinical, personal, professional, and interdisciplinary competencies to provide compassionate and high value patient care.

Fifth floor has become a better place with you all here. We love having doctors always on the floor. We have such support and love from you all, and we notice that. Everyone appreciates what you do for us. From the 'OG' residents to any new faces; the nurses of 5th Floor are your biggest fans and we will stand behind you as your colleagues, friends, snack buddies, commiserators and anything else you need. We're sorry for the times we've knocked on that workroom door and bugged you. We love you all so much!
