Current Dermatology Studies

Our Focus

The Medical University of South Carolina's Dermatology Research program is focused on improving the quality of life of patients impacted by various dermatologic conditions. Our team is comprised of doctors, nurse practitioners, research fellows, and research professionals at the Medical University of South Carolina. We are committed to enhancing our patients' well-beings and furthering the advancement of dermatologic therapies. We focus on conducting research on new medications for FDA approval as well as medications that have already been approved in older ages, in children. Our studies focus on an array of skin conditions, and we are constantly adding to our repertoire. Currently, we are studying alopecia areata, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous lupus erythematous, epidermolysis bullosa simplex (EBS), hidradenitis suppurativa, lamellar ichthyosis, Netherton syndrome, prurigo nodularis, psoriasis, and vitiligo.
