Dental students at the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine are training to become licensed dentists. They work under direct faculty supervision. All patients are assured of receiving quality care and personal attention from the faculty and staff.
Treatment will take longer than in a private office, therefore, patients are asked to be available for three-hour sessions on a regular basis.

To explore care options with students or residents, you must complete a screening process to determine if your treatment needs are a suitable match with the program.
The initial screening appointment includes a brief exam and all X-rays needed. The non-refundable cost for this appointment is $99. During this appointment, a dental faculty member or a student under the supervision of a faculty member will evaluate your needs and their complexity and suitability for student or resident care. If the screening indicates your case does not fit the requirements for student or resident care, you will receive a referral to our Dental Faculty Practice or to a community practitioner. This section pertains to people under 18 years of age, including children with special health care needs.
The initial visit includes an exam, cleaning and x-rays as needed. At this visit we can discuss any special treatment options needed, including nitrous oxide, oral sedation, IV sedation or treatment under general anesthesia.

For all other insurers, courtesy claims are filed on your behalf.
All other insurance payments are sent to the patient. The patient is responsible for payment and reaching out to their insurer for potential reimbursement.
Medicaid is accepted in the Urgent Care Clinic, in the Pamela Kaminsky Clinic for Adults with Special Health Care Needs, for some gum treatments for patients who are under 21, for children's dental care (pediatric dentistry and root canals), and for some orthodontics services. Medicaid coverage for services varies by plan type and all services listed may not be covered.
All patient services carry a fee and the patient is expected to pay for the service as treatment is rendered. Payment is required in full at the beginning of any major treatments such as crowns, bridges, partial dentures, complete dentures or implants. Payment can be made by cash, check, VISA, Master Card, Discover or American Express. To pay online, please create or log into your MyChart patient portal.
We accept payment assignment with GEHA and United Concordia.
We also accept Care Credit, which offers interest-free payment plans to qualified applicants.
