Administrative Fellowship Program

The MUSC Health Administrative Fellowship is a one-year, post-graduate comprehensive program, which provides highly qualified recent graduates an opportunity to enhance their conceptual knowledge and skills in academic health system administration. Under guidance of an assigned preceptor, fellows are provided exposure to initiatives, departments, and cross-functional teams affiliated with their assigned track throughout the organization. Additionally, fellows are provided opportunities external from their track to further expose them to the organization under the guidance of the Fellowship Management Team.

Each year, fellows are selected to participate in this multi-faceted program spanning the state of South Carolina with placements in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Greenville, and Lancaster. No matter their interests, fellows are immersed in a project-based and rotational program. Under the guidance of one of our executive preceptors, fellows are challenged and prepared for the next step in their health administration careers.

Program Structure

The term "structured flexibility" most accurately describes the design of the MUSC Health Fellowship. The content of the experience is tailored to best match the individual and organizational needs.

In addition to predetermined project opportunities, leadership from across the MUSC enterprise will submit potential projects for completion by selected fellows during the 12-month appointment. Projects will offer hands-on experience promoting personal learning and leadership development:

  • 5% Capstone project
  • 5% Professional development

Fellows have the discretion to select projects which best fit their areas of interest and desired exposure outside of their appointed department.
