Career Development

MUSC Health supports its nurses with opportunities to advance professionally and personally.

Professional Development & Education

The mission of the MUSC Health Nursing Professional Development Department is to support and promote life-long learning for nursing staff in an environment that fosters quality based outcomes achieved through evidence-based practice.

Clinical Ladder

MUSC Health adopted Dr. Patricia Benner’s novice-to-expert model. The model focuses on recognizing nurses whose clinical practice integrates clinical excellence into the practice environment.

New Graduate Nurse Residency Program

Transition in Nursing Practice Residency Program is designed to ease transition to practice for the new graduate nurse in their first professional role. All new graduate nurses are invited to apply directly to any RN I position posted on the MUSC website.

College of Nursing

The MUSC College of Nursing excels not only in education, but also in use of innovative technologies to enhance learning, including dynamic online graduate programs of study, and state-of-the-art clinical simulation laboratory. Equally exciting is the groundbreaking work being done by the Center for Community Health Partnerships and Technology Center to Enhance Healthful Lifestyles.
