Internal Medicine Residency Program at MUSC Health Lancaster

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center is aligned with the sponsoring institution’s mission: to lead innovative programs where physicians in training develop the clinical, personal and professional competence to provide exceptional patient care in the communities they serve with special focus on rural and underserved areas and populations.

The program will utilize local resources as well as those of the entire MUSC network to prepare the next generation of internal medicine physicians with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and experience to prevent illness, promote wellbeing, alleviate suffering from acute, chronic, and complex diseases. Our graduates will be well prepared to serve in rural and medically under-resourced communities.

This is an exceptional training program with diverse educational components that includes robust inpatient rotations, myriads of ambulatory clinics, research opportunities, strong didactics schedule with protected time for resident education, state of the art simulation lab, POCUS training, comprehensive board review courses, vast virtual library from MUSC, and an innovative X+Y (4+2) curriculum that focuses on resident wellness and non-overlapping inpatient and outpatient responsibilities. We are proud to say that we do not have 24-hour call system, we offer shift-based residents schedule that mimics real world physician schedule and no home calls.
