Preparing for Successful Breastfeeding

Expectant mothers can be empowered to help their babies feed successfully if they know what to expect, how to facilitate a good latch, and how to help when things don't go as planned.

Postpartum Home Visits

The Postpartum Newborn Home Visit (PPNBHV) is a service for new moms and their babies. Health Department nurses provide the visit to eligible families.

Safe Sleep for Babies

We are Safe Sleep Certified. MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is National Infant Safe Sleep Certified by Cribs for Kids. To maintain this designation, our hospital must commit to using images of babies that comply with AAP Infant Safe Sleep Recommendations. For additional information, visit the Safe to Sleep website.

Prenatal Classes

Breastfeeding Preparation

Learn methods to promote lactation and tips for a successful breastfeeding experience both during your hospital stay and beyond.

Class is held on the first Tuesday of every month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. virtually or in person at MUSC Health Women's Pavilion at Florence Medical Center, 1590 Freedom Blvd., Computer Classroom, Florence, SC 29505. Registration is required.

Childbirth Preparation

This class is designed to prepare the mother-to-be and her labor companion for the birthing experience, focusing on signs of early labor, comfort measures to use in labor and breathing relaxation techniques.

Maternity orientation is included to familiarize the patient and their family with the facility and our labor and delivery concept.
