MUSC has a robust program with a wide variety of rotations to choose from. As someone interested in pediatrics, I was excited by the opportunity to staff at Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital and have multiple pediatric rotations as a PGY1 resident.

Long walks, shopping, playing with my dog

MUSC had everything I was looking for in a program - large residency class, high caliber rotations, and on-call experience to name a few. Having completed my education at MUSC I knew what type of training I was going to receive, and it made me very excited.

What are your hobbies outside of residency?

Eating at all the great restaurants in Charleston, walking my dog on the West Ashley Greenway, traveling whenever I get the chance.

What ultimately sold me was the people. I could tell that the preceptors cared about you as a person and were genuinely interested in what I had to say. The residents also reflected this and also supported that the preceptors do care about helping grow personally and professionally. I knew this was a place that would help me grow into the pharmacist I want to be.

What are your hobbies outside of residency?

Big foodie so trying new restaurants and breweries, movie and series connoisseur, reading, hiking, exploring new places

Why did you choose MUSC?

I chose MUSC for the diverse rotation experiences, the ability to participate in 24-hour on-call, and the preceptors. The rotations and 24-hour in-house on-call shifts are very challenging but they really allow you to grow as a new practitioner, utilize your clinical knowledge, and work as part of the care team. I have been able to meet and work with a lot of great doctors and nurses through this experience and they really look to you for medication questions. I also like the fact that MUSC is a large academic medical center, which allows for the ability to interact with a variety of learners while on rotation.

Reading, Volleyball/Pickleball, Trivia
