Volunteer Services

Our volunteers provide meaningful contributions to hospital staff, our patients, and healthcare professionals. They create a positive encounter for our patients and family members.

Join our team of volunteers if you want to make a difference, gain professional skills, and explore different areas in healthcare for future career endeavors.

Volunteers work in all areas of the hospital, so there's always an opportunity for you. Once your application is processed, Volunteer Services will work with you to ensure the opportunity fits your schedule and interests. We ask our volunteers to commit to a minimum of four hours per week. Please stay consistent with time and day.

Volunteer Programs

We offer variety of volunteer programs that fit your needs.

The Adult Volunteer Program is available to anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in volunteering at MUSC Health Florence.

Chaplain Volunteer Program

The Chaplain Volunteer Program is available to local chaplains to join in and to provide pastoral care services to our patients during their hospitalization.

Junior Volunteer Program

The Junior Volunteer Program takes place during June-July, and is open to high school or college students who are at least 14 years of age.

Auxiliary Services

Formed solely for charitable purposes. The Volunteer Auxiliary of Florence is a non-profit organization which raises funds through special sales such as jewelry, book sales, and other fundraising events.

Donations are used for charitable purposes to help develop new programs or to purchase equipment for the benefit of MUSC Health Florence patients and families.

Job Shadowing Opportunities

MUSC Health Florence offers job shadowing opportunities to high school or post secondary students, or adults with a bona fide educational interest. It introduces the individual to a particular job or career by pairing the student with an employee or clinical faculty member. Students and/or other individuals will follow/shadow the employee as he/she performs normal work activities. The individual may observe and ask questions but will not perform patient care duties. Students must be at least 14 years old ( 16 years old in Operating Room areas.)

Non-Clinical Internship Opportunities

MUSC Health offers (unpaid) Non- clinical internships throughout the year, providing professional growth opportunities to college students interested in exploring various areas in healthcare. The student interns will be placed in a department of interest but may not provide diagnosis, treatment, or direct patient care.

For more information or for questions about the volunteer program, please call or email Hiba Ghasham, Volunteer Services Manager.
