Meet Jessica

Jessica Hinton, a Licensed Masters Social Worker, joined the MUSC Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Program

The MUSC Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Program is thrilled to announce that Jessica Hinton, a Licensed Masters Social Worker, has joined our team! Jessica is originally from New Jersey but has lived in Charleston for 24 years! After working at MUSC in research, she graduated from USC with her Masters in social work, and she has been working with patients at a dialysis center for the past 7 years. Her experience working with patients with a chronic disease has helped her to understand the complex nature of kidney disease and how critical self-management techniques are for optimal outcomes. Jessica is looking forward to working together on your journey and supporting you as you navigate life after bariatric surgery.

Jessica will be working closely with our behavioral medicine team to facilitate preoperative psychosocial assessments as well as with postoperative support. She will help you prepare for surgery, set realistic expectations for post-op life, and work with the psychologists to provide resources to optimize your readiness for surgery. We are looking forward to some of Jessica’s energy and ideas for the program! Jessica is excited to be back at MUSC and working with our supportive interdisciplinary team!

When she’s not at work, she loves spending time with family, friends and traveling.
