RMC & MUSC Health Affiliation

the Regional Medical Center logoThe affiliation will bring select services to patients in Orangeburg, Calhoun, Bamberg, and surrounding counties being treated at the Regional Medical Center (RMC). Telemedicine will allow RMC and MUSC Health physicians to work together providing specialty care previously unavailable locally. Patients and referring physicians will also have priority access to the MUSC Medical Center, should their condition require hospitalization or treatment in Charleston.

Health Care Services Offered

Initially, RMC and MUSC Health will collaborate on:

  • Telestroke Care
  • Surgical Weight Loss
  • Cancer Treatment
  • Orthopaedics
  • Cardiology
  • Behavioral Health

The Value of Telehealth

Telehealth allows providers and health facilities to expand their reach beyond their own offices. It has been shown to reduce the cost of health care and increase efficiency through better management of chronic diseases, shared health professional staffing, reduced travel times and fewer or shorter hospital stays. The quality of health care services delivered via telehealth is as good as those given in traditional in-person consultations.
