Using an Android device with Chrome

If you are using an android device with Chrome, use the following instructions to update your camera and microphone permissions.

  1. On your Android device, open the Chrome app .
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap More, and then tap Settings.
  3. Tap Site Settings.
  4. Tap Microphone or Camera.
  5. Tap to turn the microphone or camera on or off.
    • If you see the site that you want to use under Blocked, tap the name of the site, tap Access your microphone, and then tap Allow.

If you are using an Android device and the above steps have not worked, use the following instructions to update your device settings.

  1. On your Android device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications.
  3. Tap the app you want to update.
  4. Tap Permissions.
  5. Choose which permissions you want the app to have, like Camera or Phone.

Important: Not all Android devices have combined security and privacy settings. Some may have separate security and privacy sections.

  • Android 13 and up: Tap Settings. Then tap Security and privacy.
  • Android 12 and lower:
    • For security settings: Tap Settings. Then tap Security for security settings.
    • For privacy settings: Tap Settings. Then tap Privacy for privacy settings.

Change app permissions based on their type

You can check which apps have the same permission setting. For example, you can check which apps have permission to view your calendar.

  1. On your device, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Security and Privacy. Tap Privacy, and then tap Permission manager.
  3. Tap a permission type.
    • If you allowed or denied permission to any apps, you'll find them here.
  4. To change an app's permission, tap the app, then choose your permission settings.
