A lineup of four delicious-looking popsicles

As you’re soaking up the sun’s rays this summer, don’t forget to stay hydrated and refuel with healthy snacks. Dairy is a great way to get in protein but it also provides your body with many essential micronutrients including calcium, phosphorous and vitamin A. Besides providing protein, dairy can play a role in bone and heart health. Enjoy dairy on its own, such as a glass of milk, or add it to a yummy treat, such as homemade popsicles! Many people think of ice cream as a sweet treat in the summer, but popsicles can be just as satisfying. They can incorporate fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, making them versatile and enjoyable for all!

Why Homemade?

Although there are a variety of popsicles and summer treats conveniently available at the grocery store, many of these products are loaded with added sugar, are high in fat or are full of processed ingredients. However, making popsicles at home offers many benefits, including using whole foods, minimizing the number of ingredients and using less sugar (or utilizing natural sugars, such as those found in fruits).
