Perinatal Education Classes
Whether this is your first pregnancy or your fourth, we are here to provide support through every step along the way.
Classes listed below are at the downtown Charleston location unless otherwise noted.
Please call 843-792-5300 to reserve your seat and let us know which class you want to attend.
Payment may be made at the time of the class, by cash or check.
Learn what to expect during labor, delivery, and postpartum: relaxation and breathing techniques, pain management, basic newborn care, breastfeeding, how to take care of yourself and your family after the baby is born.
These classes are taught every month and each monthly class meets for 4 weeks, unless there is a holiday that falls in that sequence of classes, then the class will meet for 3 weeks. Each week the class meets from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
$50.00/ $30.00 MUSC employee, spouse, or student paid the first night of class in the form of cash or check. There is NO co-pay paid for these classes. Only pay when you attend your first session.

Learn about normal newborn behavior, feeding patterns, signs of illness, safety, sleeping, bathing, immunizations, and solutions for other common concerns.

Learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, pumping, storage, hints and tips, and much more! Your instructors are OB registered nurses specially trained in assisting and educating breastfeeding mothers.

Tuesday evenings 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Learn everything you need to know about keeping kids safe in vehicles from a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.Learn about different types of car seats, how to install car seats in vehicles, proper harness placement, and general safety tips.
Enrollment is capped at 10 attendees currently due to social distancing. Each class is subject to cancellation due to COVID-19 by SJCH/PTWP leadership.
