Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Clinic
MUSC Health is the first and only program in South Carolina to earn recognition from The ALS Association as Certified Treatment Center of Excellence. The MUSC Health ALS Clinic meets the highest levels of established national standards of care in the management of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This means patients with ALS can stay in the state for the highest quality care and to participate in ALS research.
High-quality Patient Care
We know that ALS patients are best cared for in a multidisciplinary clinic. Your needs are diverse and are best served in a coordinated fashion by a team of experienced healthcare professionals. At MUSC Health, you will see experts from Neurology, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, Gastroenterology and Registered Dieticians, Social Work, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Palliative Care, and many more. Our team meets regularly to ensure we are developing a patient- centered, evidence-based, quality care plan specifically for you.
Dedication to Research
There are FDA approved treatments to slow the disease progression. At MUSC Health, our teams are conducting clinical trials to help identify biomarkers related to ALS, and to help identify potential treatments that may more effectively halt the disease progression.
