Primary Care at Hollings Cancer Center

MUSC Health Primary Care is pleased to offer primary care services exclusively to the patients who are newly diagnosed or undergoing treatment at Hollings Cancer Center. We understand that patients’ health needs go beyond cancer care. Throughout a patient’s cancer treatment journey, the primary care physician is an important resource for cancer and non-cancer related illnesses, pre and post-operative care, and recognizing and managing complications of cancer care.

Dr. Tucker Price is a board-certified Family Medicine physician, which a special interest and training in the care of cancer patients and cancer survivors. Dr. Price will help provide a continuity of care for our cancer patients while also conducting clinical research on opportunities improve cancer survivorship care through primary care.

Do I need a primary care provider while I see an oncologist at Hollings Cancer Center?

To allow your oncologist to focus wholly on your cancer treatment, we recommend including a primary care provider on your care team to help with general wellness, managing acute illnesses, like the flu, and providing care for chronic conditions, such as diabetes.

What if I already have a primary care physician?

If you are local to Charleston and already have a primary care doctor, you can keep your current physician. If you travel for your treatment and would like to temporarily see our in-house primary care physician, you can keep your current primary care physician and see Dr. Price during your cancer treatment.

What kind of care will be available?

Dr. Price provides the full range of primary care services to her patients, including care for acute illnesses, chronic diseases, and preventive health maintenance.
