How do I schedule a video visit?

What is doxy.me?

Doxy.Me is a free, simple, and secure video platform to chat with your doctor, from anywhere. There is no need to download software or create an account. It uses an internet connection and your computer or device’s built-in microphone and video. All data is encrypted, your sessions are anonymous, and none of your information is stored. Doxy.me adheres to HIPAA, PIPEDA, and GDPR data privacy requirements.

Who can be seen for a video visit?

Patients of all ages, both new and returning, can be seen by an MUSC Health Primary Care video visit.

What kinds of conditions are appropriate for video visits?

We are scheduling all patients, for any condition, with a video visit. Depending on your condition, your provider may decide if an in-office visit is medically necessary and they will communicate that to you before your visit time. We cannot perform annual physicals through a video visit.

How does a video visit work?

Once an online appointment is scheduled, patients will receive an email with a doxy.me link to login for the video visit. At the appointment time, enter the virtual waiting room by clicking on the link on a smartphone or computer (internet and video capabilities are required). The doctor will join the visit, and based on your needs, talk you through your visit.

How do I check in to a video visit?

Before your visit, you will receive a link to your provider’s doxy.me virtual waiting room. Use these step-by-step directions to test your equipment and successfully join your video visit.

Can you do video visits for children?

Yes, video visits are available to patients of all ages, from newborns to grandparents, and everyone in between.

Are video visits available for new patients?

Yes, video visits are available for both new and returning patients.

What technology is required to do a video visit?

An internet connection and a computer or device with video and microphone is all that is required. If you can FaceTime or Skype, you can do a video visit!

Which web browser is best for video visits?

Our doxy.me video visits will work on Chrome, Safari, or Firefox web browsers. They will not work on Internet Explorer.

What if have computer/internet issues at the time of my appointment?

We recommend testing your devices before your visit to ensure a smooth process. Test your devices here. If your video visit is not working at the time of your visit, we will convert your visit to a virtual check-in (phone call visit).

How much do video visits cost?

Most insurers are covering this like they would an office visit, you may confirm with your insurer.

Will video visits be available after the COVID-19 pandemic?

Yes, we will continue to offer video visits throughout the pandemic and afterwards to all patients to give the Charleston community more options and access to their care.
